NEWS RELEASE: June 24, 2014

Minneapolis: -- The Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) welcomes Thaddeus Lightfoot to membership on its Executive Committee for the 2014-15 bar year that begins July 1.  Lightfoot was elected to the association’s officer ranks as secretary, beginning service on a five-year leadership track that will have him serve as president for 2017-18.

Lightfoot has practiced environmental law in many different capacities. He is a partner at Dorsey & Whitney, but has also founded his own small firm, worked as a government trial attorney, and served as a legislative assistant for Thomas Foley, the former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. He has taught environmental law at William Mitchell for the last decade. Lightfoot attended Gonzaga University, majoring in political science, before attending Georgetown University Law Center.

Lightfoot has a long history with the HCBA, having first joined the Environmental Law Section in 1994. For the 2013-2014 bar year, he served on the HCBA Board of Directors, Finance and Planning Committee, Council of Sections, and Art and the Bar Committee. He has been a presenter for a variety of CLE programs, published articles in The Hennepin Lawyer, and is a 2014 LINC (Leadership in the Nonprofit Community) program alumnus. In addition to his long service with the HCBA, Lightfoot also serves on the MSBA Governing Council and the MnCLE Board of Directors. This breadth of experience will be invaluable in bringing his vision for the HCBA to life.

In his free time, Lightfoot is an avid patron of the Minnesota arts. He and his wife of 26 years love to attend the Minnesota Orchestra. They also enjoy visiting art fairs and festivals, with a particular appreciation for Minnesota landscape paintings
