Nominations for the HCBA Diversity Awards, Professionalism Awards, and Advancement of Justice Award are due by Friday, April 5, 2013.  

These annual HCBA awards seek out the best of both individuals and firms who make a significant contribution to the profession and to the advancement of justice. Nomination forms are available here.


The awards panels welcome nominations for the following:  

Professionalism Awards:
Presented to a member of the bench and a member of the bar who best exemplify the pursuit of the practice of law as a profession, including a spirit of public service and promotion of the highest possible level of competence, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Advancement of Justice Award:
This award recognizes the contributions of non-lawyers to the justice system. The award goes to an individual or agency that has improved the administration of justice, achieved freedom through law, or increased public understanding of the legal profession and justice system.

Diversity Awards:
These two awards recognize those who have fostered a continuing commitment to increasing diversity in the legal profession, and increasing access for historically underrepresented individuals.  One award recognizes a legal employer (public or private) who increases diversity in the legal profession, particularly in hiring, retention, and promotion. The other recognizes an individual lawyer for commitment, effort, and achievement in increasing diversity in the profession.
