Open HCBF board and officer positions: Application deadline May 15
The Hennepin County Bar Foundation (HCBF) is seeking applications for open seats on its Board of Directors and the position of Treasurer.
The mission of the HCBF is “Promoting equal access to justice for the people of Hennepin County.” The HCBF fulfills this mission through making grants to organizations operating in Hennepin County that are working to address the unmet need for legal services among low-income individuals and others who face barriers to access to justice.
The HCBF board has recently been engaged in strategic thinking regarding how best to enhance its ability to fulfill its mission. As a result, the HCBF Nominating Committee will be looking for a mix of individuals who bring experience, expertise and/or enthusiasm to these core areas of board activity: fundraising and development; event planning; grant making; and community outreach (outreach focused on understanding the changing needs of Hennepin County residents and the organizations and agencies that aim to serve those needs).
Members of the HCBF board are elected to three-year terms. Board members are limited to serving two consecutive three-year terms.
To be eligible to serve on the HCBF Board of Directors, individuals must be members in good standing of the Hennepin County Bar Association.
The position of Treasurer of the HCBF, while a one-year term that is not technically “tracked” in the bylaws, tends to be held by an individual who is interested in moving up to the leadership positions of Secretary, President-Elect, and President.
To apply to serve on the HCBF Board of Directors or in the position of Treasurer, candidates need to complete the 2013-14 application form and submit a recent resume or CV. These materials must be received by the deadline of Wednesday, May 15, 2013 and should be sent to the attention of Mary-Margaret Zindren, executive director of the HCBF. Candidates will be notified regarding the status of their application by mid-June.
