Family Law: Initial Case Considerations: Pitfalls to Avoid

For the Hennepin County Bar Association Family Law Section
2014-2015 season, we are having a practice series regarding considerations for
cases from beginning to end. Come hear seasoned practitioners and
judicial officers speak, giving practical tips and tricks for each stage in the
life of a case.
The first session will be October 8, 2014, presented by
Sonja Trom Eayrs, Shannon Ort, and Rodney Jensen, where we will discuss Initial
Case Considerations and Pitfalls to Avoid.
This session will cover topics
such as initial client interviews, when to file a case, litigation hold
letters, social media, early ADR and the ICMC.
Through the remainder of the season, we will have sessions
on the following:
- Discovery Issues
- Trial Preparation for Case in Chief and Direct
Examination of Client (including mock session)
- Trial Preparation for Opposing Case and Cross
Examination of Opposing Party (including mock session)
- Experts: Direct and Cross Examination
