WEBCAST: Civil Litigation: Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care in the Legal Profession

1.0 Professional Development CLE credit applied for this program.

Featuring: Joan Bibelhausen, JD, Executive Director of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers

Civil litigators are repeatedly exposed to difficult facts, circumstances and emotional issues while preparing for trial, regardless of whether the case is settled or tried.  Lawyers are in the only profession where members regularly deal with traumatized clients and emotionally charged situations, but do not talk about the effect that trauma can have on them. This program will discuss types of trauma, the impact of others’ trauma, our risks and what to watch for. Participants will learn self-care techniques that will lessen the impact of our exposure and help us to develop resilience. Information on resources available to all Minnesota lawyers will be provided.

Once you register, to view the live webcast, go to CLE & Events | View My Online CLE from the main menu at the scheduled webcast date and time. Your webcast will appear on the list and will be available by clicking the "View" button.
