2.0 Elimination of Bias CLE credit applied for this program.
Featuring: Hon. Peter M. Reyes, Minnesota Court of Appeals and Esteban A. Rivera, Rivera Law Firm LLC
Representing culturally diverse clients raises unique challenges for practitioners in many areas of the law such as criminal, family, immigration, and employment law. Being aware and adjusting for these challenges can help you and your client in front of the bench. In this program, we will seek to answer the following questions:
- What kind of preparation is needed prior to represent a culturally diverse client?
- What are the key elements that could be overlookeded representing culturally diverse clients?
- What is expected from the bench when representing a culturally diverse client?
- What elements of a culturally diverse client should be brought to the attention to bench?
Our program will include a panel discussion featuring a Judge from the MN Court of Appeals who hears appeals from all the counties in MN, former practitioner in-house and attorney at local law firms, former president of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and former president of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association; and an attorney who represents mostly culturally diverse clients and currently serves as the president of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association.
