WEBCAST: Environmental Law: Climate Change: Crippling Costs to Public Health

Featuring: Leigh Currie, attorney at Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) and Dr. Bruce Snyder, Clinical Professor of Neurology, University of Minnesota School of Medicine

Curbing climate change is top priority for both federal and state regulators. Demands for action stem from growing awareness that the air and water pollution associated with massive consumption of fossil fuels pose major threats to global public health. Leigh Currie, attorney at Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) and Dr. Bruce Snyder, Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, will discuss the nexus between regulating fossil fuel consumption and avoiding tremendous public health impacts, at the HCBA Environment Section CLE luncheon on November 4, 2015 at 12 p.m. Ms. Currie is presently litigating a case that requires the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to quantify the monetary costs of environmental damage from electric utilities' fossil fuel use, and to utilize those environmental costs in its regulatory decisions. Dr. Snyder, joined by the Twin Cities Medical Society and the Minnesota Public Health Association, is an intervenor in the PUC case.
