Cyrenthia Jordan to Lead New Lawyers of the Hennepin
County Bar Association

The New Lawyers Section (NLS) of the
Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) has elected
Cyrenthia Jordan as chair for the 2007-08 bar year.
Along with duties as chair, she will also serve a
one-year term on the association’s Executive Committee
and Board of Directors.
Jordan has been actively involved with
HCBA New Lawyer’s Section (NLS) and Community Relations
Committee (CRC) since 2002. She has also held leadership
positions in each as Community Service Director of NLS
and Chair of CRC. She also was a participant of the
inaugural class of the HCBA’s leadership development
program, Leaders Impacting Non Profit Communities.
Jordan is originally from Indiana
and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball
State University in Legal Administration. She graduated
from Hamline University School of Law in 2002. Jordan
is an associate at Mansfield, Tanick, and Cohen, P.A. in
the business practice group. Before joining the
firm, she practiced in the area of credit and
collections and held clerkships in the Hennepin
County Juvenile Court and Public Defender's
Office. Prior to law school, Jordan was a paralegal for
six years.
Jordan is committed to pro bono practice
and community service. While in law school, she received
the Hamline Alumni Association Community Service Award,
Student Community Service Award, and Pro Bono Service
Certificate. She has since been recognized by
Minnesota Law & Politics magazine as a “Rising Star”
in 2005 and 2006, and in 2005, The Minnesota Lawyer
named Jordan one of 10 “Up and Coming Attorneys” in
Minnesota.
Jordan exemplifies the spirit of service
and passion for social justice through her work at the
Children’s Law Center by serving as a pro bono attorney
for children in foster care and a volunteer attorney for
the Minneapolis Urban League Legal Clinic. Jordan
serves on the board of directors of the Children's
Law Center and is a Director-at-Large for the Girl
Scouts Council of Greater Minneapolis. She is active
with the Minnesota Black Women Lawyers Network, where
she is on the Governing Committee and is Chair of their
annual Lena O. Smith Luncheon. The luncheon provides an
opportunity for the legal community to celebrate
diversity and recognize the contributions of black women
lawyers to the practice of law in Minnesota.
Jordan shares her special interest in
community service with her teenage daughter by getting
her involved in ongoing projects. She enjoys reading,
writing short stories, theater, and movie outings with
her family.

The Hennepin County Bar Association is a
professional society representing nearly 8,000 area
attorneys with a wide variety of services for the
community and the profession. The New Lawyers Section
consists of over 2,000 bar members admitted to practice
before the Minnesota Supreme Court within the past six
years, or who are 36 years of age or younger.
