Bowman and Brooke LLP Recognized
for Commitment to Diversity

Minneapolis (5-19-05): --  The Diversity Committee of the Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) has recognized the law firm of Bowman and Brooke LLP with its 2005 Diversity Award. The Diversity Award is given annually to a legal employer who displays an outstanding commitment to diversity in the legal profession. “I don’t think of our diversity efforts as a program,” says partner George Soule, “I think of it as a way we do business and who we are as a firm.”

Describing the firm’s commitment to diversity, hiring partner Michelle Rognlien emphasizes that Bowman and Brooke understands that commitment means much more than simply complying with employment laws. The firm’s leadership believe that it is about creating a workplace that promotes diversity and accommodates the needs of employees, and that it equips the firm to understand and better represent their clients, potential jurors, and the public as a whole. “We believe that people from different backgrounds and experiences can bring different analyses and problem solving skills to bear on clients’ problems.”

Bowman and Brooke attorneys are also dedicated to various diverse organizations, including Minnesota Women Lawyers, Twin Cities Black Lawyer Association, Minnesota American Indian Bar Association, Japanese American Society, and more. They strive to be responsive to the needs of a diverse community, and recognize the necessity of providing diverse counsel to earn and retain new clients.

The mission of the HCBA is to serve the needs of a diverse membership by advancing collegiality, professionalism, ethical conduct, and competence in the legal profession. The association strives to ensure the fairness and accessibility of the legal system by promoting public understanding and confidence in our system of justice and by working along with the courts to improve the administration of justice. The largest of Minnesota's 21 county bar associations, the HCBA serves a membership of 8,000 legal professionals.
