Blockchain Innovation in Law and Corporate Governance

Are you familiar with blockchain? Many are not and those who are only know about its connection to bitcoin – the cryptocurrency favored by ransomware fraudsters. But this decentralized, peer-to-peer technology has been described as “the most important IT invention of our age” and “the new Google.” Wulf Kaal and Craig Calcaterra will introduce participants to the basic principles of blockchain and the fundamental impact it is having on the practice of law. The presentation will include discussion on smart contracts, whether the existing legal infrastructure sufficient to address legal challenges presented by smart contracting, and how corporate governance can benefit from blockchain technology.
