Attorney Liens in Minnesota: The Newly Inferior Interest

Christensen Law Office v. Olean determined that attorney liens cannot attach to homestead property regardless of the value of the property and the homestead exemption.  In this CLE, we will examine the evolution of the attorney lien statute and the Minnesota attorney lien statute to ultimately examine how the Minnesota Court of Appeals came to its ruling that attorney liens cannot attach to homestead property, especially in light of other liens.
