How Do We Keep Women Practicing Law?
Even in the age of #MeToo, women are still leaving their high-powered jobs. The legal profession is no exception. This panel of experienced litigators explore why women leave the practice of law, but most importantly, they discuss how to keep women practicing. Minnesota Court of Appeals Judge Jill Flaskamp Halbrooks will share her professional experiences and provide tips for prioritizing work, setting boundaries with clients and colleagues, and maintaining that all important balance. Rebekah Bailey, a partner at Nichols Kaster, PLLP, will discuss factors every employer should keep in mind when compensating its employees—specifically how law firms can ensure they are in compliance with the Equal Pay Act and Title VII. Sybil Dunlop of Greene Espel will provide powerful insights on how to foster positive work environments by addressing implicit bias and providing frank and constructive feedback. And Dan Olson, a shareholder at Bassford Remele, P.A., will provide important tips and tricks every parent-lawyer needs to keep in mind when networking and maintaining client relationships. This CLE is a candid discussion for both men and women, and should not be missed.
