HCBA and HCBF Donate $50K to VLN In Honor of Organization's 50 Year-Anniversary

MINNEAPOLIS: -- The Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA), along with the Hennepin County Bar Foundation (HCBF), presented Volunteer Lawyers Network (VLN) with a $50,000 donation in honor of VLN’s 50th anniversary. The HCBA has been a financial supporter of VLN since the organization’s inception in 1966.

HCBA President Kim Lowe and HCBF President Sharna Wahlgren presented Skip Durocher, the chair of the VLN Board of Directors, with a check at the HCBA’s annual meeting on June 1.
The HCBF, the charitable giving arm of the HCBA, contributed $40,000 of the donation through their annual grant-making cycle. The HCBA added an additional $10,000 to the gift. The gift was in addition to the monthly support the HCBA provides to VLN.

Volunteer Lawyers Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides civil legal services to low-income people through volunteer attorneys. VLN’s mission is to protect and promote the basic human needs of people in poverty through the power of legal volunteers.      

The Hennepin County Bar Association is a professional society representing nearly 8,000 area attorneys with a wide variety of services for the community and the profession.  The association strives to ensure the fairness and accessibility of the legal system by promoting public understanding and confidence in our system of justice and by working along with the courts to improve the administration of justice.
